AFCON 2025 had nearly $3B in player capital at the tournament.
The media covered it like a sideshow, and nobody was talking about the fact that player values were about to fluctuate across every major league in the world.
That bothered me.
One thing led to the next.
Now I've built the Value Momentum Index (VMI) Terminal, a production valuation platform covering MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, NWSL, Premier League, Serie A and Serie B, La Liga 1–2, Ligue 1–2, EFL Championship/League One/League Two, Bundesliga 1–2, Liga Portugal 1–2, and Italian Primavera, plus UEFA club competitions (UCL, UEL, UECL) and CONMEBOL via Tournament Production Capital (TPC). MLS coverage alone spans 1,013 players, 5,292 player-seasons, 2020 through 2025, with live 2026 match tracking across every league.
The VMI is not a prediction engine
It is decision-grade structural intelligence built to inform roster decisions, contract evaluations, and transfer targeting under incomplete conditions.
The data is open at turnstilehq.co. I love the numbers, so interpret that data here.
I’m also a kid from Queens, NY.
I played on hardtops, sandlots, and back alleys. That means something to me because the sport carries more information than a spreadsheet can hold.
A roster construction decision is also a cultural statement. A transfer fee reflects production data and the market itself: who it sees, who it ignores, and why. I built the VMI to measure what happens on the pitch.
I write here to contextualize what it means off of it.
Some posts are VMI diagnostics—production audits, efficiency breakdowns, and valuation calls backed by the same data the Terminal runs on. Some posts are structural reads on how money, identity, and power move through global football. Most are both.
Here’s what you’ll find here:
Turnstile Market Capital — Club-level investment intelligence for global football. Capital structure analysis, ownership transitions, distressed-club opportunities, rights deal economics, and PE/MCO entry analysis. Published series: Sevilla, FC Porto, KKR/MLS Next Pro, USL acquisition pathway. This is where the VMI’s player-level production data meets the actual financial sector landscape.
VMI Transfer Intelligence — Structural fit analysis for high-profile transfers and free agents across MLS and global comp markets. Which roster has the positional need, the financial room, and the efficiency to absorb the salary. Published series: Casemiro, Salah, Griezmann, Lewandowski, Silva.
VMI vs. Polymarket — Edge calls against Polymarket's live match markets weekly, with timestamped predictions backed by the production data. Monday after-action reports with outcomes and a running accuracy tracker. Tracked in public all season.
VMI Production Reports — Injury impact quantification, contract efficiency audits, and roster structure analysis across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, NWSL, Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, EFL, Bundesliga, Süper Lig, and Liga Portugal. When a player goes down, the VMI measures the production loss in dollars. When a club re-signs or releases a player, the VMI tells you whether the math justified the decision.
State of Reports — Periodic structural reads on each covered league. Pre-season, mid-season, post-season. League-by-league snapshots of who's producing, who's mispriced, and where capital is moving.
Tournament Production Capital — UEFA club competitions (UCL, UEL, UECL) and CONMEBOL competitions priced against published prize pools, per stage. The only framework that prices individual contributions against tournament revenue.
Every salary record is manually sourced from governing body and regulatory disclosures: MLSPA salary releases, NWSL CBA salary data, Premier League and EFL club filings via Companies House, LaLiga audited financial statements and Squad Cost Limit filings, DNCG audited club accounts, DFL annual financial reports, FIGC and Lega Serie A audited club accounts, Liga Portugal audited club accounts, KAP filings (Borsa Istanbul) and TFF Club Licensing data for Süper Lig, and UEFA prize pool circulars and Club Licensing data.
